Northern Michigan is an area greatly impacted by poverty. Nearly 21% of the population lives under the poverty line. 97% of elementary school children are on free or reduced lunch. Many families are unable to live in sustainable, safe housing, often living in spaces that are not warm enough and are too small.
HumanitarianXP will be partnering with Camp Restore. They were founded in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina, and their work spread from New Orleans to Detroit. Their mission is to give back to the community through housing building projects. Every project they complete is created and run by community members working for the restoration of the 9th precinct of Detroit.
This summer you will be part of the team that helps these neighborhoods to revitalize! You will be completing housing repairs and other community projects that are in need. Builders will feel the joy and satisfaction that comes from helping and working with local communities in need.
